I am known as a planner. The details of planning just make my heart happy. So on my fortieth birthday, my friends wanted to surprise me with an unplanned camping trip. Regardless of the fact that camping is not my favorite thing to do, I was up for the adventure. What an adventure it was! Without clear plans, we ended up in Cocke County, TN looking for a campsite (“hidden” right off the interstate) that took us over three hours to find, resulting in pitching our tent at 10:30 p.m. Needless to say, having a plan after that didn’t sound so bad.
Details. Those can’t miss dinner reservations. Those private tours. Arriving at your destination on time. Avoiding random fellas in charge of the firewood in the pitch black. These are just some of the things that are worth making a plan for.
I enjoy digging into location maps and planning a daily itinerary. I zoom in and find the smallest streets and alleyways in order to find the best of everything. I find myself getting lost in the digital adventure. Ultimately, the time I spend planning travel details always makes the destination that much more enjoyable.
