Elin Hilderbrand and Mix and Match Momma have created my obsession with Nantucket. So I am not original, I will admit. But when Robert said we could go anywhere, Nantucket was my choice. I knew partnered with Boston, we would both enjoy a great honeymoon.
I posted all about Boston, both honeymoon and other trips, here.
The middle part of our honeymoon was in Nantucket. We spent four nights in the town of Siasonset, or Sconset. It was fabulous. We started planning this late June trip in March, which is a bit late to have many affordable options available. I will admit, we did something I probably wouldn't generally recommend, but we found a rental on a non-traditional site, and lucked up with some great owners despite the email handle being something like 'hotmomma42.' Ha!

This picture doesn't do our little stand-alone house justice. It was cedar-shake and had its own window boxes.
Let me introduce you to the most picture-perfect seaside town. You can walk anywhere, and it had a local market and restaurants.

The Sconset Bookstore is actually a wine shop. Uh, yes. And the Sconset Cafe was so delicious. We ate there twice. (Unfortunately, it is not open this season.) For some reason, I never took pictures of food in this spot.
We spent one afternoon exploring the Bluff Walk. Formerly, this was a lookout for whale spouts off shore. Today, it is home to some of the most exclusive property on island. It leads to Sankaty Lighthouse.

The Bluff Walk begins here. Look at those roses!

I spent most of the walk considering what it would be like to see this view everyday.

We also enjoyed the beach in Sconset for the time it wasn't foggy. The island is not called The Grey Lady for nothing.

Such a quiet and peaceful beach.
Look at that sweet face. I could have sat and watched them all day.

Each day we enjoyed a breakfast sandwich from Claudette's.

We did explore other parts of the island, too. It is so easy by taking the island bus for 3$.
Of course, one of the those stops was at Downyflake for doughnuts. They were warm. And that makes the best doughnut.
Town is downtown Nantucket. And the cobblestone streets, shops, and restaurants are perfection.
The waterfront and wharf area also have tons of dining and shops also.

I think this is my favorite picture. Even in the fog, the beauty is evident.
These shell-covered walkways run parallel to the pier. And each spot is a cute shop selling anything from local wares to designer clothing.
We dined at Cru, Cisco Brewers (food trucks, live music, and craft beer) and The Nantucket Lobster Trap. Do I remember exactly where these dishes came from? No. But we did not have a bad meal. And there are a ton of places we still want to try.

We even enjoyed a food truck or two. And that last picture is key lime pie in a mason jar.

The Juice Bar does not sound like ice cream, but it is and it's delicious.
I will end on two things. First, we rented bikes while on island. We rode down some random road and enjoyed a picnic by the water. Why I didn't get more pictures? I have no idea. But the memory doesn't disappear.

Robert was a bit slow. If you could see my bike basket, you would see a chilled white wine, cheese and crackers.
And, lastly, Robert has promised me a visit to Christmas Stroll in Nantucket. If you have read Elin Hilderbrand's Christmas series, you know all about this holiday weekend each year. I hope to enjoy that soon. Here's to marrying a man who likes to indulge my crazy travel dreams and to future fabulous travels.
